Institute of Compassion and Peace

Lunata 82,151,28 – A very interesting, nearly whole-sim build, on the mainland, dedicated to the unity of world religions. There’s a cathedral, Hindu temple, synagogue, kiva, university, mosque, and Buddhist temple. It looks largely vacant, and it looks much better from a distance than up close, but all in all, pretty amazing.

Fashion show at BardHaven

Caledon Mayfair 48,90,23 – Fashion show at the BardHaven estate, designs by sachi Vixen, including two new gowns. The models are ladies from Caledon, wearing Adam n Eve skins, hair, eyes, and shoes.

Caledon Mayfair 48,90,23 – One of the hair designs is Victoriana, and I intend to look at it in the store. Sadly, it was not well fitted during the show.

Caledon Mayfair 48,90,23 – The models are having attachment problems, and we have been requested to removed radar and HUDs, so this will be my last live post on the show.

Hurry, hurry, hurry!

Check out Long Now « welcome to blueair.tv for SLURLs for “four completely unique installations of Brian Eno’s 77 Million Paintings as remixed by Angrybeth Shortbread.” They’re only there through tonight (Sunday), as they are concurrent with the RL premiere installation. Totally wild. The Hooper location isn’t included in the in-world TPs, but make sure you go there&emdash;rotating cubes in space that you can sit on (especially good in mouselook with names turned off).

It’s all done for charity

Caledon’s SLRFL team held a Renaissance Faire this weekend in Caledon Carntaigh. I was delighted to be able to attend on Sunday, buying an assortment of outfits from the vendors, trying out the catapult, and even taking a turn in the stocks, just to give others a reason to purchase tomatoes. At some point, those assembled began dancing, and well, one thing led to another:

Here’s a closer shot of yours truly:

By later in the evening, the crowd had easily tripled, and all manner of accoutrements had been added to the general costume. At one point Her Grace, the Duchess of Carntaigh herself dropped by, taking a break from her Gen X radio duties. (We were wonderfully entertained by her 80s program as we danced.)

And, of course, [shhh!] there was the formation of a secret society.

Things still screwed up

Although the official blog says problems from earlier today have let up, I’ve had repeated problems getting into SL this evening: long (10 minute) logins, hung logins, crashes in SL, buggy behavior.

New elven sims!

I was showing around my friend nox tonight, and discovered that the Elven sim reorganization I read about in the MM (I think) is taking shape. There are now several ocean sims that are new. It’s going to be a nice big area. (The map slurl.com uses doesn’t show any of the sims, even the preexisting ones, yet.)

Broken map

The map in Second Life seems to be broken. It’s showing old images of sims, and newer sims don’t have names and return “invalid location.”

Of course, with 32,000+ people logged in, I’m sure it’s the usual database load. Lag is certainly terrible.

I also TPd to my home, to find something like a dozen people rather aimlessly walking around and through the house. It wouldn’t be so bad, except they wouldn’t even say hello, and many of them are members of only sex groups. Two of them were naked and wearing shackles. So I set the land to group only. Sigh. I hate doing that.
