Mr Oldsarge Dowd today raised this long-broken aspect of groups in [our favorite virtual world]: You should be able (permissions permitting, groan) to create a proposal for a group vote, setting the quorum, period the vote is open, and method of voting (simple majority, 2/3, etc). And indeed, you can create such a proposal, and group members can vote on it—but when the voting closes, the proposal totally disappear. My favorite JIRA issue yet
I’ve just been browsing through the open JIRA issues with high votes, and came across this one: [#VWR-1080] Span-cleavage slider for shirt and jacket layer definitions (and pants) – Second Life Issues (BETA)
We would like to see a checkbox added to the undershirt, shirt and jacket layers ‘Span Cleavage’ which causes these clothes items to render across the space between the tops of the breasts/pecs rather than following the contours of the cleavage. The skin layers beneath would, of course, remain unaffected. . . .
Maybe a similar thing at the pants layers too, so we can ‘Say no to Crack’ 😛
Pushing for more groups
There’s a blog push on to get votes for [#MISC-208] More than 25 groups! – Second Life Issues (BETA) in the bug-tracking system “jira”. If you’ve never been there, for this you just need to follow the link, and you’ll be taken directly to this issue. At the bottom of the left column there is a place where it says that if you were logged in, you could vote for the issue, with a link. When you click that link, you will need to sign in with your avatar name and password. Then you will be brought back to the issue page, and you can vote for it.
Rhythms of nature
I recently made a commitment to lead worship services once a month at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Second Life, on third Thursdays at 6:30PM SLT and the following Saturdays at 6:00AM SLT. Unitarian Universalism affirms Seven Principles, and the document that lists them lists sources as well; I intend to touch upon these sources in the months to come.
This week, I will be focusing on “Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.”
Everyone is welcome! The service is held at our church in Lovelace.
Holiday memories
Tomorrow’s salon at Ormsby Hall, Caledon Murdann will be on the topic of holiday memories. I have plans to be at home on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm SLT at least through February.

Winterfell-Caledon Ball
Tonight it was my pleasure to serve as the Radio Riel host at the Winterfell-Caledon Solstice Ball, organized by Serra Anansi, Seneschal of Winterfell, and Her Grace, Gabrielle Riel, Duchess of Caledon. The ball started out in Winterfell Castle in Winterfell, but the sheer fabulousness of the crowds crashed the sim. In the resultant confusion, we regrouped in Caledon Cape Wrath, a brand-new and mostly empty sim that newly connects Caledon and Winterfell. At times we had more than seventy avatars at the ball. Her Grace was the musical presenter and, if such a thing is possible, outdid herself with the loveliness of the music. It was a triumph, and my congratulations to the ladies who planned it.
After my duties for the formal ball were done, I managed to take a few photos without moving from my place (oh, the wonders of no camera constraint and very high draw distance!).

Radio Riel: From the Library . . . Luciafest
In addition to being a host for Radio Riel, I occasionally act as a DJ or musical presenter. I’m very excited that later this evening (just before I go to bed, in fact), I will begin broadcastingRadio Riel: From the Library . . . Luciafest, which will shuffle about nine hours of music through the early evening (mid-afternoon, SLT) of Thursday, December 13.
Tag, I’m it! I’m it! I’m it!
First, it was the Defender of Murdann; then my web-friend Marion Rickenbacker, whose photography I love; and now I’ve discovered that Lady Edwina Heron has joined the fray. (And I suppose I should also count Miss Achariya Maktoum, who tagged “all of Caledon”).
The rules of tagging are simple, and as follows.
- Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
- People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
- At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
- Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog
- I was in a modern dance collective that performed The Shakers (1931) by Doris Humphrey by being coached with Labanotation. The collective also performed a dance I choreographed.

Defender of Murdann
Yesterday the Duchy of Loch Avie celebrated St. Andrew’s Day in fine style, with festivities throughout the day. A highlight for me (and the only portion I was able to attend) was the tourney of arms between Duchy Champions. I was honored to be represented by the Protector of Caledon, Lady Whoop-ass, Diamanda Gustafson, Defender of Murdann.
