Quarter sim available

Update, June 17: TAKEN!

I have a quarter-sim parcel in Murdann available for rent. It is the northeast corner of the sim and is available at any time (the current tenant will move when a new tenant is ready to rent).

The stats:

  • L$7,200/week (four weeks minimum, discount if paid monthly in US$ via paypal)
  • 3,750 prims
  • 16,384 square meters

This is a quiet, rustic, lightly-themed estate. No hard definitions, but definitely pre-modern architecture (up to 1920s or so). The neighbors on Murdann include Tea & Strychnine’s main store, the airship of the Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach, and my own TARDIS. Much of the development on the sim is aerial (which is zoned by height).

There is no purchase, and thus no resale, of property. My goal is long-term stability throughout the estate. Please contact me via IM or email (in profile) if you are interested. (Please, no notecards. My IMs are forwarded to email.)

Warming Day 2009

You are most cordially welcomed to drop by Orcadia and enjoy our attractions as we quietly celebrate our second anniversary on Saturday, June 6. No big organized dance party this year, but the Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach is having an open house from 10am-noon on the airship now moored in Murdann, there are several En Garde pistes (one in each sim, I believe), as well as 7Seas and Neo-Realms fishing. Lady Edwina Heron has a jousting list in Murdann, and the Marchioness of Giggleford may be pimping her addiction putting out a Frootcake table in Giverny.

As always, there are the varied stores of Mmes Snook and Robbiani in Giverny and the main store of Tea & Strychnine aloft in Murdann.

Finally, I will be sponsoring (and playing!) a day of Scandinavian music on Radio Riel, http://music.radioriel.org. I have recently expanded my collection, and tomorrow you can hear the fruit of that exploration.

Land available

In light of the coming changes to open space sims, my current open space sims will be consolidated into full sims by the end of the year, at which time new rental parcels will become available. I invite anyone looking for long-term land ownership (one quarter sim or more) to contact me. I offer very attractive terms in a congenial, rustic estate, in exchange for long-term stability from congenial, low-drama tenants.

Sadly, I am likely to relinquish tenancy of Caledon Murdann. (I am certainly going to relinquish it unless the Guvnah decides to consolidate it into a full sim.) Please contact me if you have always dreamt of renting a duchy in Caledon.

Impromptu drumming circle

Every once in a while, I get a conference IM from Beth Odets, sent to all her online contacts, inviting us to drop by for music or other fun. Last night I decided to do the same, and I invited people to join Bromo Ivory and I in Muckle Green Holm, where we were playing with my elven drum set. What fun it turned out to be! Thank you to all who joined us and created such a great time.

Luckily, I had just taken up the gamelan set that I put out in Shapinsay last weekend, because we ended up needing those as well.

Second Annual Warming Day

On Saturday, 7 June, we celebrated the second annual Værð, or Warming Day, in Orcadia with a dance and amusements. Wyre is just over a year old, and has been joined by Hoy, Shapinsay, and Muckle Green Holm!

Edwina Heron, the Countess of Swoonsbury, set out amusements in Hoy, including two kinds of bumper vehicles and swan boats. Jameson Despres, the Thane of Shapinsay, arranged romantic settings throughout that island and below the waves. Muckle Green Holm was transformed into a sim-sized maze, a recreation of the maze created by the utopian community of New Harmony, Indiana, in 1814. And Soliel Snook, the Marchioness of Giggleford, entertained an assembled party with ’80s pop and music. (Wings turned out to be the order of the day. Below the group shot are photos of me and of nox Pinion.)

We’re throwing a party

You are most cordially invited to join the residents and friends of Orcadia (Wyre, Hoy, Shapinsay, and Muckle Green Holm sims) for our national holiday, Værð, or Warming Day, on Saturday, 7 June, 2008. This holiday celebrates the first anniversary of the settlement of Wyre, and the recent addition of Hoy, Shapinsay, and Muckle Green Holm.

For your entertainment and pleasure:

  • Wyre dance floor, 10am-1pm SLT, dancing to music by Radio Riel presenter Soliel Snook (80s pop and dance has been requested)
  • Hoy dance floor, metal tunes by Edwina Heron as the whim takes her
  • A most impressive labyrinth in Muckle Green Holm, based on that of the Utopian community of New Harmony, Indiana
  • A carnival on Hoy, all weekend
  • Elven drums and gamelan orchestra, location to be determined
  • 7Seas fishing
  • boating
  • lovely countryside for picnicking

Public Square on Wyre

Orcadia expands

In a very exciting development, this evening Shapinsay and Hoy joined Wyre in the estate of Orcadia. Needless to say, it will be difficult to go to work tomorrow, and the weekend will be filled with terraforming so that the eager new residents can move in. You cannot yet teleport to the new sims, but if you go to Wyre you can cross the sim border.

The Most Honourable The Marchioness of Giggleford

An invitation to all and sundry from His Serenity, Otenth Haakon Paderborn, Jarl of Orcadia, Duke of Murdann, Viscount Ormsby of Little West Sniggery and Giggleford, Thegn of Aa:

You are cordially invited to the Investiture of The Most Honourable The Marchioness of Giggleford, Soliel Snook.

Saturday, 29 March
1-3 pm SLT
Wyre Fairgrounds

A short presentation will be followed by revelry and silliness. Music will be provided by Radio Riel, with presenters Otenth Paderborn and Soliel Snook.

Orcadian court genealogists continue to put their records in order (duly forwarding their discoveries to Begonia’s Peepage), and they have uncovered a familial relationship between Lady Giggleford and I, which prompted me to bestow on my kinswoman the title Marchioness of Giggleford.

Our common ancestor is his Grace, James Guinne Ormsby, Third Duke of Murdann, of whom I am the great-great-great-grandson by his first marriage, to Lady Lydia Jane Maclachlan, and of whom the new Lady Giggleford is the great-great-granddaughter by his second marriage, to Lady Wilhelmina Sylvia Post, making us half third cousins, once removed.

Yes, it is confusing, isn’t it? I’m also both the great-great-grandson and the great-great-great-grandson of Sigurdr Oskrr Aas, whose daughters Eleanor Margaret Aas and Sif Gudrun Aas married, respectively, my great-grandfather, His Serenity, Otenth Heinrich Paderborn, Jarl of Orcadia, and my great-great-grandfather, Magnus Haakon Heidrun, Baron Wyre. I believe this makes me my own third cousin, once removed.
